Exciting VW Amarok TDI Biturbo "Already Under The Microscope"
The double cab bakkie market is abuzz with the arrival of Volkswagen’s trend setting new VW Amarok TDI, and as to be expected, as Steves Auto Clinic, we are already well on our way to realising impressive gains with this must have for 2010 leisure vehicle.
The VW Amarok TDI Biturbo 4MOTION all-wheel drive is said to unite cross-country mobility, flexibility and efficiency like no other bakkie.
Set on a robust ladder-frame chassis and encased in Volkswagen build quality, it’s packed full of smart technology and design.
The shiftable 4MOTION all-wheel drive system along with driver assist features like off-road ABS and ESP provide it with traction and safe handling in all terrain types.
Then there’s its ability to shoulder the load - with the largest load bay dimensions in its class, the Amarok easily accommodates a Euro pallet between its wheel arches.
On tar, the Amarok also breaks new ground – with its high quality interior, low noise levels and driving characteristics that leave nothing to be desired, it sets new standards in comfort and ride dynamics, and it is here that we step in with our over a quarter of a century of Volkswagen tuning under our belts.
Making 120 kW at 4 000 rpm and 400 Nm between 1 500 and 2 000 rpm and claimed to get from 0-100 km/h in 10.8 seconds for the 4x2 and 11.1 seconds for the 4x4 while going onto a top speed of 182 and 181 km/h respectively, all the while only sipping 7.9 litres of diesel for every 100 km travelled.
This double cab is would seem is no slouch in standard form against the clock and at the pumps.
But for those who want even more from their Amarok, we will be taking smart and making it eveb smarter with a Plug n Play Unichip and possibly even a free flow performance exhaust.
